Description: Danville 140 denier measures between 3/0 and 6/0 in diameter. It is an excellent choice for midsize flies. Note: Light Olive has a brownish tint and appears darker than Olive. Size 8/0 is about 70 denier, 6/0 is about 100 denier, and 3/0 is about 180 denier. Those comparisons vary from brand name and what the thread is made of. WHY DIFFERENT COLORS? I usually tie different colors to identify specific flies, such as red heads for heavily weighted, orange heads for medium weights and yellow for shallow water nymphs. I also like dry flies with different color heads. Another reason is to match colors close to the body material when using floss, silk, or any other material that color bleeds through when wet.
