Akai CS-705D Cassette Deck! Rare Vintage Find!

Description: The persistence of Analog! For your consideration: For sale, is seldom used super-fantastic looking 70's classic, two-track stereo Akai cs-705d with wooden cabinet and most the wanted brushed aluminum faceplate (photos 1-to-10) You won't see many of these around anymore, let alone in good working order since it's arrival when the universe revolved in transistorized orbit while the ubiquitous ones & zeros were simply kindergarten child-play elements. It's very well built to say the least and it's almost impossible to ignore its stunning presence with a sound that is hard to beat. Anecdotally speaking, the Akai is indeed one for the books of amazing achievement and some of the best sound-stage I've ever heard to-date and I can't endorse it enough I'm simply at awe with what this machine can deliver for my application of its era. Prior to posting, inactive for some time, it recently received hours of 20-point tune-up by opening the machine layer-by-layer and replenished all pertinent electronic components and moving parts to assure proper signal contact. Belts replaced new. Vigorously buffed, detailed clean every crevice and every line with some retouching involved in the refurbishing process and aesthetic makeover to arrive in this rejuvenated state. Bench-tested and all functions work as well expected. PLEASE NOTE: The “Play, Rewind & Fast-forward”buttons do not disengage at the end of tape, you have to press the “Stop” button. Don't deny this rare timeless classic either for posterity or the ultimate conversational display piece in your esoteric audio gallery with a few colleagues & contemporaries over a beer exchanging anecdotes and comparing "biases", "total harmonic distortions", "signal-to-noise-ratio" or maybe reminiscing 'bout the day when "analog ruled the world!" Hey, perhaps the epoch of analog discovery is in full circle, yet again...well just a wishful thought but who's to say? Own a piece of history and wonder no more! Conversely, it is an investment that is worth the "Wait" in gold...so grab it while it lasts! This model has seized in production and becoming a rare commodity, highly desirable and extremely sought after, so grab it while it lasts! Like any other vintage gear, some traces of inconspicuous or obvious wear is almost expected. Also up-for-grabs: A refurbished and fully functional highly desirable only dual cassette player/recorder Aiwa wx-220 (photos 11-to-22, $750) equipped with a unique DJ mixing capability never before featured on any other dual decks that I have ever encountered with an effective separate output A/B faders and individual pre-monitoring feature! Such a plethora of special functions to satisfy any demanding user such as normal and high-speed dubbing, programable music search, bias adjustment just to name a few. The WX-220 is robustly built and well-packed in research & design put into its technology ahead-of-its-time back in the day! It's all you need for capturing that missing body of warmth sound character unattainable by the ubiquitous ones and zeros counterpart. One of my personal project. Prior to posting, countless hours spent given a 20-point tune up by opening the machine layer by layer, board by board. it's fitted with new longer-lasting compatible capstan belt-specification for both A&B tape transports and the mechanical counter as well. Head-block and tape-path demagnetized, buffed and detailed clean every crevice every line to free from dusts. Furthermore, lubrication and deoxit all knobs & controls, including many pertinent connections, majority of electronics and moving parts where necessarily important to ensure proper contact, static free and smooth operation with even some retouching involved in the process. All buttons work as expected. It is worth having this indispensable Aiwa machine around in any audio or video environment to add substantial life to any cold masterings that perhaps only a pleasing saturation of a tape can ever deliver. I have done literally endless projects with these machines back in the day and I can't endorse them enough for its reliability and unsurpassed sound. Am luvin' the analog even more so today in the culture domain of compressed, non-linear virtual recordings. Anecdotally, IMHO, any tape based format recordings, digital (DAT) or analog will deliver a far sonic superiority. It even stands its ground in digital transfers. Albeit, our affinity to Analog is simply.."still" we are all "Analog People" after all living in an evolving tech world of..."digital"! As a stereo tape playback this is an amazing value enough to justify its staple purpose in any home based or pro studio environment alike..don't missed out on this opportunity to own it! I'm an audio engineer, dj, a/v tech, an electronic hobbyist and perhaps a purveyor of all things analog. I have refurbished, repaired, modified and worked on many vintage gears and some current ones for my personal hi-fi and pro collection. Time is irrelevant when I would sometimes spend up to 80 hours literally just for a single project alone..and don't get paid by the hour either..it's what I do and comes with the territory. The kind of work I do will reflect the quality end result of each particular item..so buy with confidence even just for the time and labor invested in this amazing machine is surely worth it. Bench tested and passed with flying colors and ready to put back in service once again by a new found user. The WS-220 is no longer in production and becoming a hard commodity and very sought after due to it's high quality result of any studio or live recording project and ease of use that is still relevant in digital culture of today! So grab it while it lasts! The front facet although in excellent shape, the top cover has some obvious but minimal rash due to years of stacking and moving around. Like most vintages some superficial imperfections are almost expected and trace of wisdom is apparent but in no way impede normal functionality and will be hard pressed to find another in this state of condition. Shipping may vary on location.Post Script: Ideal for serious incurable collector of all things analog, unique and in short supply with intent to build a showroom, I would consider to sell to the eligible buyer, a one in a life time find of some of the rarest extremely sought after cornucopia of Vintage, DJ, A/V and Pro gears in single Collection anywhere. Exceeding 3 decades of tracking down and literally thousands of man hours invested in refurbishing, restoring, repairing these amazing electronic wonders to accumulate such magnificent concentration of historical analog importance you've ever seen! Some are new, used and few are part of my on going passion in what I do. Nonetheless, all has given equal meticulous attention and care to arrive in the integrity they once were and will be hard pressed not to admire aesthetically. I baby all my gears more than my ex-girlfriends :-)) and pictures don't do justice but reflect what you see. There simply is too much to itemize at once as I continue to build up the inventory list and pertinent details of what's included in the sale, item condition that will be revised as it becomes available and selling price will be adjusted accordingly.
