The map was distributed by the Tide Water Associated Oil Company in 1953 to promote its Tydol Flying A gasoline and Veedol motor oil. It is dated by the code number in the lower margin: 9-AA. The back cover shows a Tide Water service station sign: The front cover has illustrations of historical landmarks, including Plymouth Rock, Bunker Hill, Connecticut Hall, Minute Man Statue, and Old Slater Mill, with the name of the states printed in red.
